Ghostbar fans, rejoice!
The club’s doors were sealed by the government on Monday, but they will reopen this weekend, according to the Ghostbar Marketing Representative.
The rep posted comments on my blog and said:
“We ensure you that Ghost Bar was closed shortly due to a misunderstanding that has nothing to do with the media campaign and forced closure of nightclubs. It is not related to any gay issue as well, nor to any drugs that some of you are illustrating it.”
He also pointed out that “Ghostbar has no relation with Acid Nightclub” and that Acid was closed due to a “pure real estate matter”, not a gay or drug issue.
Thank you Ghostbar for setting the record straight.
Maybe us gays are just overly paranoid. Whenever a gay club gets shut down, we immediately think “OMFG! They’re out to get us!”. But hey, maybe the government has no problem with gays after all. I mean, out of all the clubs in Beirut, maybe it’s just a coincidence that two popular gay clubs were sealed “bil sham3 el a7mar”.
