Argentina is the first Latin American country to legalize gay marriage.
The Senate passed the same-sex marriage bill in a 33-27 vote (3 absentions); now all that’s left is for the President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner to sign the passed bill.
Keep in mind that Argentina is predominantly [90%] a Roman Catholic country (just like the rest of Latin America) and there is a huge amount of opposition from the Catholic Church.
The first gay marriage in Argentina is scheduled to take place on August 13 between two men in their 60s. See u then 🙂
